Because the title character in David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a hacker, computer screens play an important role throughout the film. The screens were photographed without their final content, allowing the digital material to be created and integrated during post-production. Joe designed the websites and screen graphics, created the motion graphics and helped composite the finished elements into the footage. On portions of the work, he collaborated directly with David Fincher to refine the design, movement and timing of what appeared onscreen. The before-and-after clips below show the original photography alongside a series of completed visual-effects shots.
